Bored to Boss

Achieve Academy Students Yearly Entrepreneurship Program

Bored to Boss is designed to help K-12 students learn the skills needed to start their own businesses. The program is fun and engaging and includes entrepreneurship skills from business planning to marketing to finance. Bored to Boss has been successful in helping children learn about entrepreneurship. After this year’s program, 90% of Bored to Boss participants said that they had a better understanding of business. 80% of students said that they were more likely to start their own business after participating in Bored to Boss.

In addition to teaching success skills like hard work, organization, perseverance, and creativity, Bored to Boss teaches the entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on problem-solving, idea development, and business planning. Local entrepreneurs are invited into the program as teachers and mentors. Their entrepreneurial journey, personal story, creative expression, and experience are used to teach practical skills to the students.

The program concludes in an entrepreneurial marketplace in December that launches each business into the public arena. Local business owners, community organizers, students’ families, supporters of the school, and the general public are invited to come and shop with the students. The event is always an overwhelming success with local media coverage and positive feedback. The response of the participants to receiving the first income from their business makes a lasting impression and excites them about taking their efforts in entrepreneurship further.
