Hey Y’All! I’m A Vegetarian In The South

If I seem at all low maintenance, you are very much mistaken, especially when it comes to food. A vegetarian that is fussy about where and what they will eat does not have any easy time eating out in the South. The options are usually fried, flavored with bacon grease and that’s just the veggies!

So, what’s a healthy eating girl to do, the answer is obviously to cook. I love to cook, love my cooking and will experiment to find new combinations that I will enjoy. But what about when you’re out and about.

Recently, we went on vacation and basically I needed to eat! The other vacationers love Chick-fil-A, a Southern fast food staple for quality food and great customer service. I decided to Google veggie options at Chick-fil-A and found this lovely site that filled me with hope and later a good meal.

For breakfast, I chose the burrito with scrambled eggs and cheese. Covered with their signature salsa, it was awesome. For lunch, I ordered the Veggie Wrap (when you order it, be aware that you might have a wait while the server finds this option on the register). Made fresh when you order, the Veggie Wrap includes lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, black beans and corn. Covered in their Avocado Lime Ranch dressing, it is delectable and filling. I even ordered dessert, a medium fruit cup and a granola yogurt parfait.

  • Chick-fil-A Granola
    Yogurt Parfait

The only issue is we’re home now and I keep running out to Chick-fil-A to grab lunch! What happened to home cooked? This is a great vegetarian lunch Southern style!
